More info

The pixel splitter takes one data input and splits it into three data outputs. The data input can be tapped from and existing string of pixels or directly from a controller.

The split lengths / pixel numbers are set via an easy to use interface with an OLED display and stored in the splitter memory. The display is only required for making changes to the settings and can be removed once complete. Only requiring one OLED display even if you have twenty splitters keeps the cost down but you might consider having a spare on hand.

The splitter supports 5 V and 12V pixels which can be powered via the on board power distribution. There are three pairs of positive / ground terminals available to power strings; each is protected by a PCT self-resetting fuse. With the use of a buck converter (not supplied) pixels of both voltages can be used at the same time.

The three data outputs support up to 2,500 WS2811 and WS2812 pixels. Two of the outputs can supply up to 999 pixels each the third is only limited by the 2,500 splitter maximum. Note: The practical limitations will be dictated by the controller feeding the splitter.

The splitter supports both 400 and 800Kbps data transmission with no user adjustments needed and is compatible with the new 280uS reset period time.

The splitter circuitry takes its power from the pixel power; this is selected with a jumper to match the pixels being used. The splitter can be powered down over night and will retain is settings, the boot time is just over a second.

If required splitters can be daisy chained to increase the number of outputs available.
