This board is designed to allow you to extend four outputs over one Ethernet cable. It is recommended that you use a shielded cable for these boards to provide a ground return. Nominally the forums use these boards without the ground, which assumes that a ground return will exist through the AC power lines. While this works in most cases, it is not best practice. A shielded cable will just cost you a little bit more.
